CANstruction 2018

Monday, November 5, 2018

Organized by AIA Northern Virginia Chapter and Arlington Food Assistance Center, the 15th annual Canstruction® competition celebrates the commitment that local architects have made to support their community and have fun while doing so. Before these whimsical works become meals, they are evaluated by an expert panel and awarded in the categories of Best Original Design, Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, Most Cans, People’s Choice and Structural Ingenuity. After display and judging, there is a de-CANstruction event where each firm disassembles their structures and all cans are donated to AFAC. One Source was happy to support MTFA Architecture and HDR in this year's competition. MTFA won the local AIA Northern Virginia award for Structural Ingenuity with their "Knock Out Hunger from Down Under" structure, which consisted of 2,947 cans of food and 50 boxes of pasta.
